Universal Integrated Remote Control

The universal garage door opener can operate up to 3 functions of remote-controlled systems such as garage door drives or lighting systems. It replaces up to 3 different hand-held transmitters. To operate the remote control, the buttons on the interior rearview mirror must be programmed with the desired functions. The hand-held transmitter for the particular system is required for programming.

During Programming

During programming and before activating a device using the universal garage door opener, ensure that there are no people, animals, or objects in the area of the remote-controlled device; otherwise, there is a risk of injury or damage. Also follow the safety instructions of the hand-held transmitter. Before selling the vehicle, delete the stored functions for security.

Compatibility

If the system to be controlled has this symbol on its packaging or instructions, it is generally compatible with the universal garage door opener. For questions, contact your service center or visit www.homelink.com. HomeLink is a registered trademark of Gentex Corporation.

Programming

General Information:

  1. Switch on the ignition.
  2. Initial setup: Press and hold the left and right buttons on the interior rearview mirror simultaneously for approximately 20 seconds until the LED flashes. This erases all previous programming.
  3. Hold the hand-held transmitter for the system 1–3 in / 2.5–8 cm away from the mirror buttons.
  4. Press and hold the desired function button on the hand-held transmitter and the mirror button simultaneously. The LED on the mirror will flash slowly.
  5. Release both buttons when the LED flashes faster, indicating programming is complete. If the LED does not flash faster after 60 seconds, adjust the distance and repeat. Wait 15 seconds between attempts. Canada: if interrupted, hold the mirror button and repeatedly press/release the transmitter button for 2 seconds.
  6. Repeat steps 3–5 to program other buttons/functions.

Special Feature: Alternating-Code Wireless System

If the system cannot operate after repeated programming, check if it has an alternating-code system. Press and hold the programmed mirror button longer. If the LED flashes rapidly and then stays lit for 2 seconds, the system has an alternating-code. Both the universal remote and the system must be synchronized.

Synchronizing the System

  1. Park the vehicle within range of the remote-controlled system.
  2. Program the mirror button as described.
  3. Press the synchronizing button on the system within 30 seconds.
  4. Hold the programmed mirror button for ~3 seconds and release. Repeat up to three times if needed. Once complete, the function will operate.

Reprogramming Individual Buttons

  1. Switch on the ignition.
  2. Press and hold the mirror button to be programmed.
  3. When the LED flashes slowly, hold the hand-held transmitter 1–3 in / 2.5–8 cm from the mirror buttons. The required distance depends on the transmitter.
