Driving Comfort

Vehicle features and options

This chapter describes all standard, country-specific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarily available in your car, e.g., due to the selected options or country versions. This also applies to safety-related functions and systems. The respectively applicable country provisions must be observed when using the respective features and systems.

Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (ACC)

The Concept

Use this system to select a desired speed that the vehicle will maintain automatically on clear roads. The system automatically adjusts the speed to a slower vehicle ahead of you, maintaining a safe distance. If the vehicle ahead brakes to a halt and resumes driving shortly after, ACC will automatically brake and accelerate again. For prolonged stops, briefly press the accelerator or the appropriate button to reactivate the system. The system also maintains speed downhill, but may be limited uphill if engine power is insufficient.

General Information

Depending on the driving settings, the features of the cruise control can change in certain areas.

Hints

Personal Responsibility

Even an active system holds the driver responsible for staying in the lane, adjusting speed, keeping distance, and driving style. The system has technical limits and cannot react to all traffic situations. Monitor your driving, be alert, and intervene when needed through braking, steering, or evasive maneuvers to avoid accidents.

Unfavorable Weather Conditions

Rain, snowfall, slush, fog, or glare can reduce vehicle detection and cause short-term interruptions of ACC. Drive attentively and intervene actively when necessary to avoid accidents.

Before Leaving the Vehicle

Before leaving the vehicle with the engine running, set the parking brake and ensure the Steptronic transmission is in position P to prevent the vehicle from moving.

Radar Sensor

A radar sensor is located in the front bumper to detect vehicles ahead. A dirty or covered sensor may prevent detection.

  • If necessary, clean the radar sensor and remove snow or ice carefully.
  • Do not cover the radar sensor's view field.

Camera

The camera is installed near the interior rearview mirror. Keep the windshield in this area clean and clear. A dirty or obstructed area may hinder vehicle detection. Clean carefully, e.g., remove salt residue in winter.

Switching On/Off and Interrupting Cruise Control

Press the button on the steering wheel to switch the system on or off.
