Intelligent Emergency Request
The Concept
In case of an emergency, an Emergency Request can be made through this system.
General Information
- Only press the SOS button in an emergency.

- Emergency Request may not be guaranteed under unfavorable technical conditions.
Overview
The SOS button is located in the roofliner.
Requirements
- The SIM card integrated in the vehicle has been activated.
- The radio-ready state is switched on.
- The Assist system is functional.
Initiating an Emergency Request
- Press the cover briefly to open it.
- Press the SOS button until the LED at the button lights up green.
- LED green: Emergency Request initiated.
- If a cancel prompt appears, the Emergency Request can be aborted.
- Wait in the vehicle until a voice connection is established.
- LED flashes green: Connection to BMW Response Center established.
When the Emergency Request is received, the BMW Response Center contacts you and takes further steps to help. Even if you cannot respond, data such as the vehicle’s current position may be transmitted to assist in rescue measures.
Automatic Emergency Request
Under certain conditions, an Emergency Request is automatically initiated immediately after a severe accident. Automatic Collision Notification is independent of pressing the SOS button.
Warning Triangle
The warning triangle is located behind the left-hand cover in the trunk. To remove, loosen the bracket.
First Aid Kit
- Some items have a limited service life. Check expiration dates regularly and replace expired items promptly.
- The first aid kit is located behind the left-hand cover in the trunk.
Jump-Starting
General Information
If the battery is discharged, the engine can be started using another vehicle’s battery and two jumper cables with fully insulated clamp handles.

- Do not touch live parts to avoid the risk of potentially fatal injury.
- Follow the recommended procedure strictly to prevent personal injury or damage to either vehicle.
