CHARGING THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY

AC Charging

Charging

Make sure that the convenience cord is completely unwound before charging.

  1. Shift into park (P), apply the parking brake and switch the ignition off.
  2. Plug the convenience cord into the AC outlet.
  3. Fully open the charge port door.
  4. Remove the charge port cover.
  5. Plug the convenience cord coupler into the vehicle charge port.

Note: Make sure that you fully engage the convenience cord coupler.

Note: It takes approximately four to six hours to completely charge a discharged battery.

Note: If you are using a 230 V charging station, follow the instructions on the charging station.

Stopping Charging

The charge port unlock button is next to the charge port.

Unlock your vehicle.
Press the charge port unlock button to stop charging the high voltage battery.

Note: If the convenience cord remains connected, charging resumes after a short period of time.

Disconnecting the Convenience Cord

  1. Unlock your vehicle.
  2. Press the charge port unlock button.
  3. Disconnect the convenience cord coupler from the charge port.

Note: You cannot disconnect the convenience cord coupler until charging has been stopped or completed.

Note: Do not use excessive force to disconnect the convenience cord coupler. This could damage the charge port and the convenience cord coupler.

  1. Install the charge port cover.
  2. Close the charge port door.
  3. Disconnect the convenience cord plug from the AC outlet.

Note: Do not disconnect the convenience cord plug from the AC outlet when the vehicle is charging. This could damage the AC outlet and the convenience cord.

HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING: Do not use the 230 V convenience cord with an extension cord, two-prong adapter, surge protector, timer or other adapter.

WARNING: The AC wall plug must fit firmly into the AC outlet. If the connection feels loose, worn or the AC outlet is damaged, please have a qualified electrician replace the AC outlet. Using a convenience cord with a worn outlet may cause burns, property damage and increase the risk of electric shock.

WARNING: This battery pack should only be serviced by an authorized electric vehicle technician. Improper handling can result in personal injury or death.

CHARGING EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Your electrical source must meet certain requirements for the high voltage batteries to charge:

  • Make sure that the AC outlet is properly grounded and in good condition.
  • Use a dedicated circuit, which means you cannot have other appliances connected to the same circuit.

Note: If you do not have a dedicated circuit, contact a qualified electrician for proper installation.

LOCATING THE CHARGING EQUIPMENT

The convenience cord is in a bag under the front passenger seat.

The convenience cord has indicators showing the charging status.

Charging Status Indicators

  • Power – Green
  • Fault – Red
  • Check AC outlet – Amber
