Exterior Lighting

Exterior Lamp Controls

The headlight control is located on the infotainment screen. Touch the O symbol, then select any of the following options:

  • Off: Turns off the exterior lights. For vehicles first sold in Canada, the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) automatically activate when the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park). See your owner's manual.
  • Auto: Enables the automatic headlamp system, which controls the exterior lights and instrument panel lights depending on outside lighting. See your owner's manual.
  • Parking Lights (;): Turns on the parking lights. If the vehicle is not in P (Park), the DRL also come on.
  • Headlights (5): Turns on exterior lights such as headlights, taillights, parking lights, and license plate lights, plus instrument panel lights.

Headlights can also be activated via the Controls & Safety app:
On the infotainment home screen, touch Controls icon +, then select See More Controls > Lights > Headlights.

Optional Reminder If Headlights Are Off

You can set a reminder for the vehicle to display a message if it is dark outside and the headlights are off. On the infotainment home screen, touch + > See More Controls > Lights > Headlights, then touch T in the upper corner of the Headlights menu. Check or uncheck Turn Headlight Reminder On to enable or disable this option.

High-Beam Systems

IntelliBeam System

If equipped, this system turns the high-beam headlamps on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions. It activates when it is dark enough and no other traffic is present. A light appears on the instrument cluster when IntelliBeam is enabled.

Turning the IntelliBeam System On and Off

To enable IntelliBeam:

  • From the infotainment home screen: Controls App + > Auto High Beams > On
  • Or via: See More Controls > Lights > Auto High Beams > On

The system engages only when the Headlights control is set to 2 or Auto.

To disable the system: Auto High Beams > Off.

Driving with IntelliBeam
Warning: Using high beams in dense exhaust, smoke, fog, snow, road spray, mist, or other airborne obstructions can cause glare, obstructing your vision and increasing crash risk. Never use high beams in these conditions.

The system only activates high beams above 40 km/h (25 mph). The blue High-Beam On light appears on the instrument cluster when active. A sensor near the top center of the windshield automatically detects oncoming and preceding vehicle lights. Keep this area clear of debris.

The high-beam headlamps remain on under automatic control until one of the following occurs:

  • Vehicle speed drops below 20 km/h (12 mph)
  • Outside light is bright enough that high beams are not needed
  • System detects an approaching vehicle's headlamps
  • System detects a preceding vehicle's taillamps

The system may not turn off automatically if:

  • Other vehicle lamps are missing, damaged, obstructed, or undetected
  • Lamps are covered with dirt, snow, or road spray
  • Dense exhaust, smoke, fog, snow, road spray, mist, or other airborne obstructions
  • Windshield is dirty, cracked, or blocked
  • Vehicle front end points upward due to load, affecting sensor aim
  • Driving on winding or hilly roads

The IntelliBeam system may need to be disabled if any of these conditions exist.
